Drawing on her experience in Capbreton (Landes), where she set up her professional practice Prana Yoga, she has also led freediving sessions in south-east France, Corsica, Sicily, Egypt, Greece and Lanzarote. She knows the specifics of the Aegean Sea inside out.
Her method: the gentle approach
Charlène has developed what she calls “the gentle approach” in her teaching. In her own words:
“In freediving as in yoga, the aim isn’t the pursuit of performance, but rather the chance to open a caring space where you can welcome your bodily sensations, your thoughts and your emotions.”
Here, there are no preset goals, no numbers to hit. Instead, a teaching centred on listening, acceptance, kindness and presence to oneself. So everyone progresses at their own pace, respecting their physiology and their limits — and often far further than expected.
The deep link between yoga and freediving
For Charlène, freediving and yoga form a coherent whole:
- 🧘 Awareness of body and breath
- 💗 Slowing of the heart rate through breathing techniques
- 🌊 A search for inner calm and full presence
- 🕉️ Active meditation beneath the surface
As she sums it up herself:
“As paradoxical as it may sound, freediving is for me a real breath of fresh air.”
Each session at sea becomes a meditation in motion, and each yoga session on deck prepares body and mind for the next dive.
